ITS is pleased to announce that the project to move to Google G Suite has progressed to the point where we can begin changing key systems over to using @umich.edu email addresses natively instead of @umflint.edu addresses. Since the move of students to Gmail in June of this year, and faculty/staff prior to that, any emails sent to uniqname@umflint.edu have been automatically forwarded to the intended user’s @umich.edu account. This change will simply allow more direct communications, and make it easier to verify a user’s @umich.edu email address.

The first systems to be updated will be Blackboard and Banner (including SIS). We will be performing a final round of testing this week, and if all is successful the change will take place Saturday, September 21st at midnight. 

Users will most likely notice the change reflected when emailing students from within SIS or Blackboard, where they will now see uniqname@umich.edu email addresses. Any other query of student records in Banner or Blackboard will also reflect the uniqname@umich.edu email address.
