Graduates and Alumni Migration

As part of the campus-wide Google transition, your email accounts will move to Gmail on May 15th. Starting on this date all new email will be delivered to your new Gmail account located at email.umich.edu. Your new address will be your uniqname @umich.edu. All email that is sent to your @umflint.edu email address will be forwarded by default to your new @umich.edu address after May 15th.

By default, your new account will be empty. If you choose to migrate your email from your old @umflint.edu email account to the new @umich.edu account, you can do so through my.umflint.edu. Just log in to my.umflint.edu and look for the “Google Migration Tool” starting on May 15th. If you do not want to migrate but would like to keep your old emails, you can do so by saving them as a PST file. Directions can be found at: google.umflint.edu/migration-preparation/

This move will also affect any forwarding you have set up using inbox rules. All forwarding for your new Gmail account is handled through MCommunity. To set up forwarding visit mcommunity.umich.edu and follow the steps below:

  1. Select “My Profile” at upper right
  2. Select the “Settings” tab
  3. Select “Add Forwarding Address” at the bottom
  4. Enter the email you would like to forward to in the text field that appears
  5. Select “Save Changes”

(Note: DO NOT remove your @go.itd.umich.edu forwarding)
